Last Laugh is a chilling horror film about a university student who sets out to decipher humanity’s earliest recorded joke. Once she uncovers the contents of the text, a sinister force is unleashed.
Keen to explore the horror genre, I got to writing the first iteration of Last Laugh in July 2025, back when it was titled 'The First Joke'. This early iteration of the film was set in a university. Eventually, the idea of a group zoom call came as the story developed, with early versions having up to five people in the group. The idea of an unseen evil, only visible as a glimpse in the corner of your eye remained a bedrock through each draft.
Last Laugh was the first film produced under the indie film collective Paradigm Productions in January 2026.
